The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of 10-week intermittent and continuous Jump Rope Exercise with Music on the body composition and physical fitness in elementary school students. The subjects in this study were 20 students in elementary school. An intermittent exercise group and a continuous exercise group were organized with 10 students each. The intermittent exercise group worked out in the morning, at noon and in the evening during a 10-week period of time, three times a week, 10 minutes each. The continuous exercise group worked out after school during the same period, three times a week, 30 minutes each. The findings of the study were as follows: First, concerning body composition, there were no significant changes in the weight of the two groups, but the intermittent exercise group showed a more significant reduction in body fat rate. Both groups showed a significant increase in muscle mass. Second, regarding physical fitness, no significant changes were found in the muscular strength of the two groups. In flexibility, only the continuous exercise group showed a significant increase, and both groups made a significant progress in cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, power and agility. The above-mentioned findings illustrated the intermittent jump rope exercise with music doesn"t have an effect on every child. Yet this is one of effective ways of working out for children who are pressed for time or who have difficulties keeping exercising due to poor physical fitness. And that was as effective as continuous exercise at improving body composition and physical fitness.
