The aim of this study is to provide a field of practice for student athletes by developing a program to strengthen core competencies of student athletes. For this study, a draft of the program was drawn up, based on literature review and an experts’ meeting with professors in physical education, researchers and physical education teachers was conducted to give shape to the program. Also, the program was test-operated and its validity was verified. The program developed was named ‘SACA(Student Athletic Competency Assessment)’. The SACA program consists of three stages; Stage 1-Understanding core competencies of student athletes, Stage 2-Diagnosing core competencies of student athletes, and Stage 3-Strengthening core competencies of student athletes. This includes activities for basic self-management by motivating behaviors of student athletes to develop core competencies. Also, this study suggested a system to observe a degree of practice for complementing and strengthening characteristic core competencies of individuals so student athletes can make a repeated diagnosis of themselves, participating and re-participating in the program. This program developed for strengthening core competencies has significance, since this is helpful in understanding a level of individual competency and can be used in career guidance and life management and provides a field of practice for student athletes.
